One thing about me is when I find a flavor I love I will need to have it on repeat…until it disgusts me and I never touch it again—I know, extreme. After having the Blank Street Cherry Glaze Cold Brew more times than I can count, I was devastated when it‘s season came to an end. But, because I’m determined, I researched hacks for how to recreate it at home & I’m quite pleased with the result.
Blank Street Cherry Glaze Cold Brew (Meg’s Edition)
Recipe (for my desired level of sweetness)
-cold brew with milk or latte (I prefer oat milk)
-1 tsp. amarena cherry syrup
-1/4-1/2 tsp. vanilla bean paste
Optional (in my opinion)
-cherry vanilla glaze: haven’t personally tried but from what I’ve gathered you could mix the same cherry syrup/jam/etc. with condensed milk. Not sure if there’s a dairy-free alternative.
Research & rationale (for anyone who’s curious 🤷🏼♀️)
-Coffee Base
Slight nuance in flavor makes a huge difference to me so I will walk to Blank Street and get the cold brew latte (oat) as the base and add flavor at home. I’ve found La Colombe’s draft latte or cold brew with oat milk has a similar profile.
-Amarena Cherry Syrup
My first try was the cherries in syrup from Fabbri & they weren’t sweet enough, so I highly recommend the syrup. As someone who’s not a huge sweet tooth, it’s the perfect level of sweet in my opinion. It’s not cheap (~$25/bottle) but it’s tall so it’ll last. Plus, I’m sure it would be an excellent addition for cocktails as well.
-Vanilla Bean Paste
I started with vanilla extract (one with alcohol and one alcohol-free) and both were too ‘artificial’. Again, not cheap, but the flavor of this vanilla bean paste is so good & adds just the right missing note to complete this drink at home.
